Reply detection

How reply classification works

When a lead replies to a campaign email, Revnox reads the reply and classifies it into one of six categories. What happens next depends on the category. Revnox records each reply on the lead's activity timeline, and for a reply someone wrote, the timeline shows its category and the classifier's reason.

Classification categories

Interested

The lead engaged positively: asked about the product, said it sounds relevant, or asked for a time. The sequence stops for that lead, and an alert can go to Slack (see Notifications below).

Examples: "Yes, I'd love to learn more.", "Can we schedule a call?", "Send me the pricing."

Not interested

The lead declined, without asking to be removed. The sequence stops for that lead. They are not suppressed, so you can still reply to them.

Examples: "We're not looking for this right now.", "Not a fit for us."

Out of office

An automatic out-of-office reply. Nobody read the email, so the sequence carries on: the lead's next step goes out on its own schedule.

Bounce

A delivery failure. The sequence stops for that lead. When the message carries a delivery status report, the sending mailbox's bounce count goes up, and the mailbox is switched off after 5 bounces in a row. A permanent failure also marks the address invalid, so no campaign mails it again. A temporary one, such as a full mailbox, doesn't.

Unsubscribe

The lead asked not to be contacted, in whatever words, even politely or alongside something else. The sequence stops, the lead is marked do-not-contact, and the address goes on this workspace's suppression list, which holds even if the lead is deleted and imported again.

Examples: "Please remove me from your list.", "Not a fit, and please take me off the list."

Other

Any other reply from a person: a referral to someone else, a neutral question, a wrong-person note, or "try me next quarter". The sequence stops for that lead. Read the classifier's reason on the timeline, because the category alone says little.

If a classification is wrong

A classification can't be changed yet. The classifier's reason on the timeline shows what it read.

Notifications

Interested replies are posted to Slack when Slack is connected, Slack is switched on in Settings > Notifications, and Campaign replies is switched on under Settings > Integrations > Slack. No alert is sent during quiet hours. Reply alerts aren't sent by email.
